Ceramic tiles are the most durable floor coverings we offer. Like the ancient tiles of the Eastern Europe, they last for centuries and are resistant to scratches, stains, odors, and dirt. Ceramic tiles are easy to maintain and water resistant.
While a little more costly and difficult to install, ceramic tile still has the largest range of styles, colors, shapes, and materials. The timeless look of ceramic tile will carry on through the years, and you won’t need to look for a replacement anytime soon.
At Satolli Carpet & Floor Coverings, we carry more than just tile for your floor. We can outfit your bathrooms, mudrooms, laundry rooms, and kitchen with tiled mosaics and backsplashes.
There are three main types of ceramic tile: glazed, unglazed, and porcelain.
Glazed ceramic tiles are coated with minerals and stain before they hit the kiln. They can have several different finishes, including matte, semi-gloss, and high-gloss finishes. Glazed tiles are normally more water resistant and have a more vibrant color; however, they tend to scratch easily, and they are slippery when wet.
Unglazed ceramic tiles are more textured but are less water resistant if they are not sealed. They provide more slip resistance.
Porcelain tiles are still made of same material as the ceramic tiles, but they are made with a different ratio of feldspar and fired at a much higher temperature. It is the most durable of the tiles, stain and water resistant, and able to withstand extreme heat. This means you can use porcelain tiles on the inside and the outside of your home or business.
